Bumblebees have round bodies covered in soft hair (long branched setae) called pile, making them appear and feel fuzzy. They have aposematic (warning) coloration, often consisting of contrasting bands of colour, and different species of bumblebee in a region often resemble each other in mutually protective Müllerian mimicry. Harmless insects such as hoverflies often derive protection from resembling bumblebees, in Batesian mimicry, and may be confused with them. Nest-making bumblebees can be distinguished from similarly large, fuzzy cuckoo bees by the form of the female hind leg. In nesting bumblebees, it is modified to form a pollen basket, a bare shiny area surrounded by a fringe of hairs used to transport pollen, whereas in cuckoo bees, the hind leg is hairy all round, and they never carry pollen.
Coloring pages are a wonderful way of allowing your child to express their ideas, opinions and perception through artistic and creative methods. You will be astounded when you see what amazingly beautiful masterpieces these puny little kids can create in the form of finished coloring pages. Apart from giving your kids a creative way of remaining engaged and passing free time, these coloring pages have quite a few other advantages. They are, for one thing, free to download and print, hence all you need is a computer, an internet connection, and a printer.
Coloring is one of the best forms of meditation. For many of us, when we think of coloring, we connect to the innocence of childhood and a time when we weren't burdened by responsibility and expectation. Picking up a crayon once again can help us reconnect to a sense of simplicity we have temporarily lost.
Creative Fun: Do you remember coloring as a kid? It has been a long time for most of us. With activity pages, kids will use their creativity to select colors and decorate. Depending upon age and skill, some will scribble a single color all over the paper, but others will pay close attention to staying within the lines and using several colors to make the dinosaur page a work of art. Regardless of the skill level of the artist, kids get creative and have a lot of fun.
You may find that you have outgrown crayons and want to color using something with a different texture and a different feel. Pencil crayons and felt pens are an affordable alternative. But you may want to spend a bit of extra money and try colored pencils, Conte Crayons, oil pastels, pastels or watercolor pencils.
