The clone troopers were bred at cloning facilities on the ocean planet Kamino to serve the Galactic Republic. Under the command of the Jedi Order, they were the primary type of soldiers during the Clone Wars (which takes its name from the troopers) and fought against the Confederacy of Independent System’s army of battle droids. It is later revealed that the war was engineered by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, secretly Chancellor Palpatine of the Republic, as part of his plan to take over the galaxy.
