Once the children have mastered the simplistic pages that have butterflies for them to color, there are websites with more advanced designs available for these students. Not only are the butterfly designs more detailed, some of these pages are designed such that the children can create their own background designs to complement the insect’s designs.

Self Esteem and Confidence Improvement - Kids give themselves a huge boost when they successful start and complete any task or assignment. The same goes for educational coloring pages. As they regularly complete each coloring page, it builds positive self-esteem in them and their confidence level, causing them to increase with each coloring pages to print completed.

Occasionally, you'll find official cartoon or TV character sites (such as PBS programs) will make available coloring pages for free to their fans. And there are many other sites that distribute coloring pages of those copyrighted characters. Sounds like dangerous legal ground ...but, surprisingly, I've never heard of any of these sites being prosecuted for copyright infringement. So they'll probably continue to make them available.

If you have very young children you may be placing them down for an afternoon nap. Older children can spend time with entertaining themselves with this fun activity. Then they won't be creating noise that can make it harder for the little ones to get the rest they need. You can print out just a page or two at a time if you like.
